I was hooked as a 10 year old watching a builder build my parent’s deck. As soon as I could, I completed my apprenticeship in Auckland, then headed off to the UK on my OE, working for a company specialising in super-prime residential managing high-end builds in some of London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods. After seven years I moved back home and have been managed larger scale commercial projects until NZ Builders. Building quality is my passion – I enjoy working with people. Managing projects by working with our clients, subcontractors and our team to get things done to the highest standard. Overcoming any challenges to have that satisfaction of looking back at what we have achieved once the work is done. At NZ Builders I am fortunate to work with such a great team that makes this all possible.
In my spare time, I love to be home with my wife and two daughters. Now and then I also love to get out on the water for some fishing and diving or down to the park for a spot of social cricket.
I had my first experience on a building site when I was 16, labouring for a family friend over the school holidays, and I loved it. Over the last 10 years, my position on site has changed, but I am still loving what I do as each day brings a new challenge. For me, getting to work with the team to create our client’s vision, and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve achieved it, is what I am passionate about. I thrive off figuring out the challenges, working through the detail, understanding the process and finding efficiencies. Working with my hands and doing something different most days keeps my job interesting, but most of all, it’s the boys and the ‘can do’ team culture we have at NZ Builders that makes it easy to get up for work on a Monday morning!
In my spare time, I love to cook for my beautiful wife, family and friends while watching rugby or cricket. When I’m not with them, the outdoors is where you’ll find me, hunting and fishing!
It’s great when you can use your gifts & talents to support such a fantastic team, which is what I’m passionate about as I take care of the financial area. Seeing the company grow & the pride they have for the work they do, striving to exceed client’s expectations with each job no matter how small or large.
Another thing I’m passionate about is family & friends, so you’ll find me spending time with my Children & Grandies, the girls specially love shopping with me, or catching a movie or meal with friends, with the odd adventure from tramping, cycling or canoeing along the way.
As a high school graduate, building was not the original pathway I thought I would take. However, as we all know, things in life don’t always pan out the way you’d think. I walked into building coincidentally and have never looked back! As a foreman, I have the honour of forming a personal relationship with every client, architect, contractor and crew member to create someone’s ‘dream come true’. This is a humble reward and one I prioritise highly in my job! The feeling I get when everyone’s hard work pays off at the end of a project is like the same satisfaction we all got when watching the All Blacks win that 2015 World Cup final!
As you may be able to tell already, rugby is another huge part of my life. I play for East Coast Bays Rugby Club as a premier grade player. When I’m not having celebratory beers with the lads, I also enjoy all other forms of sport and will not often be seen without any type of ball in hand, whether it be at the beach, park or back yard! The rest of my time is consumed of spending time with my partner, family and friends! – A long drive up the beach in my truck can never go a miss.
I started my apprenticeship straight out of school in Auckland, where I worked on mid-range renovations and new builds. Once I completed my apprenticeship, I was offered a job in the Coromandel where I could pursue my passion for spearfishing whilst working on high-end architectural homes.
I then moved to London in 2015 with my girlfriend as travel is something we love to do. While in London, I worked for LDB Construction UK for the entirety of my 5-year stint. With LDB, I experienced a wide range of super-prime residential construction, from dig outs to maintenance.
After casual labouring for builders in the school holidays as a teenager, I was primed and ready to start my apprenticeship once school finished. I’ve always loved the diversity that comes with the trade, whether from client to client, project to project or the daily tasks.
As a foreman, I love to build the confidence of our clients as the project progresses with attention to detail and good building practices delivered on time. Pretty cool standing back at the end of a project looking at what we’ve achieved and how excited the client is with what we’ve delivered.
After work, I love a good session at CrossFit. On the weekends, I love the feeling of being in the wilderness, whether it be an overnight mission in the sea kayaks, hiking, or just getting away to the family bach with my beautiful wife.
Growing up, I always loved helping my uncles with their building projects during the school holidays. This eventually encouraged me to step into an apprenticeship straight after I finished school in 2011. The process from start to finish is awesome to be a part of, and I love helping client’s creative ideas come to life. I enjoy the process of learning and the challenge that building brings.
I’ve recently become a dad to an incredible little girl, so when I’m not at work or changing nappies, you’ll find me searching for a wave or exploring the great outdoors with my beautiful family.
Building has always interested me as it is such a big part of our everyday lives. I love being able to play a role in pulling off building projects and working in a team to make it happen! With building being such a broad industry, I enjoy just how much there is to learn and improve on.
Outside of building I enjoy the outdoors where you might find me hiking, biking, going for a surf as well as helping in my local church youth group and on the footy field over the winter.
I’ve been a builder for over a decade, working on renovations and new builds. I enjoy building as it requires good mathematical and geometric ability and, at times, some creative thinking. There is obviously the physical effort, but it saves on gym fees!
In my spare time, I like to stay fit and healthy. I run when I can and enjoy swimming in the ocean in summer.
I came from a family of tradies and DIYer’s and started learning about building at a young age. From there, I realised how rewarding it was, and I enjoyed the practical side of it. Going through school, I knew I wanted to do building as a career and have since developed a real passion for it.
The thing I like about building is I love working outside and being active in my job. No day is the same, and I like the challenge that comes with that, it’s like working out a puzzle – keeps the brain healthy.
I am the youngest of 7 kids and love hanging out with my family and the small army of nieces and nephews that come with them, so family is important to me. I love the outdoors and getting out for a hunt and a fish, and I try and play most sports, so weekends are usually busy!
I’m passionate about building and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the end product of our efforts. I spent the first part of working life in the Automotive Industry and I think it has helped me to apply attention to detail to my work. I also enjoy imparting my knowledge onto the younger members of the team.
In my spare time, I enjoy fishing and horseracing and spending time with family…and the odd cold beer.
I was 9 years old when I found my old man’s treasured pool cue. Naturally, I went on to pop two doors off in the house, salvage some old carpet, add some can-do attitude and bing bang boom my brother and I had ourselves a pool table. With one “old school” disciplinary session later I was forgiven, and hours of fun and entertainment continued for a while. I tell this story because I remember the idea of being able to create something from nothing with my hands and then thinking this gives others a feeling of happiness. Dad was really impressed – Angry but impressed.
I didn’t know it initially, but the industry reminded and taught me how to replicate those moments. Building homes for families and forging new relationships with people have always been a very satisfying reward, and I’m very grateful.
Off-site, you’ll find me still trying to be a rock star with my guitar and slipping in stories of how the Blues didn’t pick me due to injury. I love family time, could be burning meat, hanging out and annoying the kids (adults too) or making music. It’s always choice to be surrounded by choice people.
I got into building once I completed school and I have never looked back. I love the physical aspect to the job, working out the best and most efficient ways to complete a task and getting it done to a high standard. My satisfaction comes from improving what I am able to achieve every day.
In my spare time I enjoying working on my Nissan Patrol and of course 4WD. Also love to get out on my tinny for a fish with my old man as much as possible!
I have been building since I finished school in Sweden. I mainly did commercial buildings back home, and building houses now in New Zealand is like a dream come true. I’m really keen to learn which NZ Builders are providing the ideal situation for!
I love everything New Zealand has to offer. In the ocean or on a dance floor is where I’m happiest.
As a kid growing up, I didn’t have a solid idea of what I wanted to do career-wise. I enjoyed seeing my dad progress through his building career, it looked exciting, so I decided to leave school early to get a head start with a connection from my dad. Every day I am given something new to do, and I enjoy learning as much as I can.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing the guitar until my fingers bleed and hanging out with my mates.
Initially, I planned to study as a science teacher, move onto masters, PhD, and eventually become a university lecturer. But things change, and I have now got into building through some mutual connections, and it has worked out pretty well. I am an apprentice for now, but through hard work, I’m aiming to get qualified and eventually move up to foreman or project manager.
My spare time is usually spent working at home, volunteering at church, gaming, hiking or anything else I can find to keep myself busy.
Coming from a background of builders, it was fitting to throw on the tool belt and swing a hammer around. I’ve always been one to get stuck into any project and get the job done to a high standard. I take pride in my work and enjoy the challenging, smaller details of a job, taking the time to get it done right. It’s always really rewarding to see the finished results of a high-end project and getting stuck in with the team.
When I’m not being a weapon on-site, you will find me out on the water fishing and diving and in the outdoors hunting, camping and off-roading with family & friends.
Growing up, I had always wanted to be a builder, but I seemed to have worked in every trade except building until 2018, when I finally took the plunge and started building. One day I will build my own house. I am a hard worker and take pride in my work. I enjoy working with an awesome team of builders that I learn from every day.
In my free time, I like to be outside on the farm with my beautiful partner and our five kids. I also enjoy pulling cars apart and spending time with friends and family.
I started building off of a suggestion from two mates in the construction industry, and I have loved my decision ever since. I enjoy being part of the process where a pile of raw materials turns into something that someone can use to make their home. I also enjoy using tools and power tools to achieve my daily tasks in the work I do.
In my spare time, I love spending time out on the water sailing with my wife and hanging out with friends.
I am currently an apprentice with NZ Builders, hoping and aiming to become qualified in the next few years. I have had some experience with engineering, working my way up at Placemakers, and I also started sales repping.
I am so happy for where I am now; working with NZ Builders is a treat. I have a passion for building, and the finer details are what excites me. It gives me a chance to be creative and problem-solve every day.
I enjoy communicating and finding the best solutions for clients, giving them an amazing experience, and adding to their dream home. The satisfaction of building something for someone is so rewarding for me.
Building has always been my dream, and a company like NZ Builders, which has great people to work with and fantastic team culture, turns that dream into something real.
